Content Management Systems: Joomla, Drupal and Wordpress
A Content Management System, or CMS, is a database-driven solution that allows Website owners to take control of their sites, without having to purchase expensive programs or learn new software. The pages are modified dynamically with the history stored in the database, along with graphics, text, videos and anything else that is needed for the page.
You can click on any of the logos to the right to learn more about each product.
In order for your Web site to be most effective, it should be kept up-to-date, with news about recent events, announcements regarding upcoming sales and specials and items of interest for your customers.
The problem is that you probably don't have the time or the inclination to learn Web coding. And you may not want to pay someone to constantly make updates to your site. These are just two of the reasons so many sites stay unchanged.
Each of these systems provides a database and a selection of templates; some templates are free some are not, but all of them can be customized using advanced HTML/CSS editing programs, such as Dreamweaver from Adobe. While some hosting services are better than other at hosting the programs and the related databases, once your selection is installed you are ready to go. The important thing to remember is that all of these programs work the same; content is managed through a pre-constructed database and pages are created dynamically and then displayed on the Web. Really, it sounds more complex than it really is.
